Band and Orchestra Field Trip
Friday, May 17th, we went on a field trip with just Band and Orchestra. We went in the morning at 8:15 AM. We had to go down to the cafeteria because we needed to take attendance. When we were done we had to go with our chaperones. Then we got to the school bus and the bus driver on both busses let us listen to music and were super nice. It took a while to get there because the destination was in downtown Chicago. On the way we played game, Miss. Lemons told us about and they were really fun. One of them was a game that me and Lydya liked. This is how you played it, you start with A and find something that starts with A, then B and C and on. When we got to the place we got 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th place rows. We learned a lot of history and how a picture can be music. There were a lot of carashendo parts which I liked. When we were done we went to Portillos. It was kind of scary ordering by ourselves because usually we have our parents order our food or be with us. I ordered a 6 piece chicken tenders and normal fries because I don't like cheese fries and I got a small coke. But Hadi brought her own lunch. Then after 20-25 minutes we had to go back to the bus because it was time to go home because the bus was about to come. Then our bus came and we had to go back to the school because our field trip was almost over. When we got to the school the whole school had an assembly. We went to the assembly and the assembly was a pep rally. Finally we went upstairs and the bell rang when wewere going up stairs. We packed up and it was time to go home. Hadi & Lydya
Band & Orchestra Field Trip
On Friday, May17th, 2019, band and orchestra 4th and 5th grade students had a field trip to the Chicago Symphony. We all met in the cafeteria, including the teachers and left around 8:20 am. The bus ride was about an hour. The Chicago Symphony was so fancy, everything was gold, and there were doormen! Everyone that performed was professional. When we went to the auditorium, everything was gold. They had a red carpet on the ground. The place was so old that when we hit the seats dust would come out. It was built in 1904. Shortly after the performance, we all went to Portillo’s to eat lunch. We stayed there for about an hour. After eating at Portillo’s we started heading back to Culver. When we got back we had to go to the gym because there was a pep rally going on. That is the band and orchestra field trip. We all had so much fun, and hope to do it again! Zainab A

"Mary Poppins"
The fourth grade Mary Poppins’ play was awesome. The main character (Mary Poppins) was a friend of ours named Mia. Bert in Mary Poppins was Marcel, Jane was Marilyn, Michael was Jun, Uncle Albert was Jonathon, the bird woman was Anastasia, Mr. Banks was Shkelqim, Mrs. Banks was Lilliana, the banker was Arib, the 16 chimney sweeps were, Bode, Davis, David, Evan, Katie, Gabriella, Zainab, Jessica, Rosailyn, Hadi, Kuba, Jeffery, Juliet, Yezel, Fillip, and Marcell. The first thing that happened in the play was, Mr. and Mrs. Banks were talking about how 6 of their nannies quit. Then, Jane and Michael came in to sing a song The Perfect Nanny. After that, Mary Poppins came through the door. Mary Poppins then tells the children to clean the nursery with A Spoon Full of Sugar. After the song has been sung, they go off to the park. They find a sidewalk painter named Bert, who sings the song, It’s a Jolly Holiday! After that it goes right into the song, Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! Then they visit Uncle Albert. He sings I Love To laugh! Then, he stops laughing because Mary Poppins had to go. Mr. Banks gives Jane and Michael there Tuppence to give to the banker. When Mary Poppins tells Jane and Michael about the bird woman, they listen to the song called Feed the Birds. They don’t want to cash in the tuppence because they want to feed the birds. They run away. The banker said you might get fired. Father was mad! They saw Bert and his friends dance and sing to the song Chim Chimney. Then the solo on the recorder Step in Time plays. The chimney sweeps dance to it. After that they marched out. Then they gave their Tuppence to Mr. Banks. Mary Poppins also, had to leave! Then, Mr. Bank got a raise! He said, “Let’s Go Fly A Kite to celebrate.”
